How we collect prices
- Once a day an automated check reads the public product pages or product feeds of the sources listed on Watch prices. It follows each site's robots.txt, makes one request per page and pauses between pages.
- We store only the model, variant, condition, price, stock status, seller name and link. We do not copy photos or descriptions.
- “New”, “Used”, “Pre-owned” and “Refurbished” follow the seller's own listing. Used grades (Mint, Pristine, Satisfactory) are the seller's wording.
- Medians and ranges are calculated from in-stock listings only. Apple's and Seiko's own prices are official retail prices.
- Safeguards: prices outside a sensible range are dropped; a change of more than 40% on the same listing is held for review; if a source cannot be read, its previous prices are shown for up to 36 hours, marked “older”, then removed.
- A price drop is a fall of 5% or more for the same listing versus the previous check, or versus its 30-day median once there are three days of history.
- Pre-owned prices are dealer asking prices. We do not authenticate watches.
- Sellers can ask to be removed, corrected or added through the claim form; we act on removal requests promptly.
How we verify repair shops
We find candidates with map searches, brand service-centre locators, chain branch lists and existing directories. Every listing then gets one of four labels, shown on its page:
- Confirmed: details checked on the business's own website, the brand's official page or the chain's branch list.
- Partly confirmed: from a map listing that shows the place open, with dated reviews since October 2024 that mention watch work.
- Unconfirmed, call ahead: found only in third-party directories or articles, or with little recent activity.
- Possibly closed: a source suggests the place is closed, temporarily closed or on reduced hours.
Addresses and coordinates are matched with OneMap. Services and brands come from the business's own website or, where that is not available, the listing and reviews. Prices are shown only when the business publishes them, word for word, with a link to the source. We do not show ratings. Area and mall pages appear once they have three or more listings; area and service pages need three or more shops offering that service.
